چکیده مقاله:

Purpose: Due to the paucity of the information regarding the lower limb biomechanics in slow speeds running as well as  concentration of the majority of previous studies in a single movement plane, aim of the present study was investigation on a kinetic based analysis of lower limb’ joints with increasing running speed. Methods: 28 runners asked to stay on the belt speed of treadmill that was incrementally increased to 2.5 m.s-1, 3.5 m.s-1 and 4.5 m.s-1 speeds. The three dimensional joint moment and sagittal mechanical muscle power of lower limbs during stance phase of running were calculated. Repeated measures analyses of Variance with Bonferroni post Hoc test were conducted to examine the variables during running at various speeds. Results:The results showed that, at the hip joint in frontal plane, an adduction moment developed in the middle of stance phase, and the greatest peak adduction moment is obvious at the highest speed condition (4.5 m/s). Also, the time elapsed to peak in the highest speed condition is less than the others. In transverse plane, although 3.5 speed condition experienced the most external rotation peak moment, but 4.5 condition speed reached sooner to internal status than two other speeds. In sagittal plane, the highest speed condition showed the highest extension and also flexion moments. Conclusions: Increasing Running speed in runners leads to more kinetic output and mechanical power gradient.

The Effects of Increasing Running Speed on Three-Dimensional Peak Angle of the Lower Limb Joints in Stance Phase

Objective: Attention can be paid to the biomechanical characteristics of running since the speed of running varies. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of increasing running speed on the three-dimensional kinematics of the lower limb’ joints in the stance phase. Methods: The research was quasi-experimental. 27 volunteer subjects ran on a treadmill and the kinematic and ...

Lower-limb muscular strategies for increasing running speed.

SYNOPSIS This clinical commentary discusses the mechanisms used by the lower-limb musculature to achieve faster running speeds. A variety of methodological approaches have been taken to evaluate lower-limb muscle function during running, including direct recordings of muscle electromyographic signal, inverse dynamics-based analyses, and computational musculoskeletal modeling. Progressing runnin...

Effect of Flat Foot on Excursions of Lower Limb Joints during Running

Introduction: The relationship between biomechanical parameters and different types of posture problems in association with running is unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the excursion changes at the hip, knee, and ankle joints during running in the patients with flat foot. Methods: The participants comprised 12 healthy men and 12 others suffering from flat feet disorder. They ...

The effect of increasing running speed on three-dimensional changes of lower limb joint angles in open motor chain and swing phase

Objective Running is known as one of the most popular sports for which there is no time and space limit. Recently, due to lifestyle changes, the use of treadmills for walking and running has increased. However, the biomechanical differences in coordination between running on a treadmill at different speeds have not been sufficiently addressed. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect...

Modulation of work and power by the human lower-limb joints with increasing steady-state locomotion speed.

We investigated how the human lower-limb joints modulate work and power during walking and running on level ground. Experimental data were recorded from seven participants for a broad range of steady-state locomotion speeds (walking at 1.59±0.09 m s(-1) to sprinting at 8.95±0.70 m s(-1)). We calculated hip, knee and ankle work and average power (i.e. over time), along with the relative contribu...

Effect of running speed on lower limb joint kinetics.

PURPOSE Knowledge regarding the biomechanical function of the lower limb muscle groups across a range of running speeds is important in improving the existing understanding of human high performance as well as in aiding in the identification of factors that might be related to injury. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of running speed on lower limb joint kinetics. METHODS K...
